PayPal Appoints Srini Venkatesan as Chief Technology Officer

PayPal Holdings has appointed Srini Venkatesan as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Venkatesan will be responsible for the development and implementation of technology initiatives throughout PayPal's ecosystem, including AI and machine learning, analytics, cybersecurity, infrastructure operations, and product engineering. He will report directly to PayPal President and CEO Alex Chriss. Chriss emphasized Venkatesan’s extensive leadership experience in scaling technology organizations, highlighting his contributions at Walmart, Yahoo, eBay, StubHub, and Marketo.

Venkatesan has joined PayPal from Walmart, where he served as the head of the US Omni Platforms and Tech organization. With notable accomplishments in AI personalization and digital transformation, his career has encompassed retail and technology roles. Venkatesan, who holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Bharathiar University, expressed enthusiasm about leveraging his diverse background to enhance PayPal's customer shopping experiences. Meanwhile, PayPal's current CTO, Archie Deskus, is set to depart, leaving behind a legacy of advancing PayPal’s platform capabilities and strengthening its technology foundation.
