Standard Chartered Names David Hardoon as Global Head of AI Enablement

Standard Chartered has appointed David Hardoon as its Global Head of Artificial Intelligence Enablement. Based in Singapore, Hardoon will report to Mohammed Rahim, Group Chief Data Officer. His appointment highlights the bank’s focus on enhancing its AI capabilities to improve operations and client service. In this newly created role, Hardoon will lead efforts to develop AI governance and infrastructure, advance data analytics, and identify key opportunities where AI can support the bank’s strategic goals.

Hardoon brings more than two decades of experience in AI and data leadership across banking, advisory, public service, and education. He previously played a central role in shaping the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s AI framework, particularly promoting ethical AI adoption within the financial sector. At Standard Chartered, his responsibilities will include strengthening AI use across various functions while ensuring ethical practices and efficient processes. Rahim expressed confidence in Hardoon’s leadership, emphasizing, “As a senior and strategic hire for the Chief Data Officer, David will play a critical role in shaping and driving our AI strategy and ambitions, ensuring that we harness the full potential of AI technologies to enhance our client-focused, data-driven services and operations.” The appointment is expected to support Standard Chartered’s continued growth and ability to meet client needs in an increasingly digital financial landscape.
