Alipay+ and Meizu Launch Smart Glasses Payment Technology with Voice and QR Capabilities

Alipay+ has introduced a new smart glasses payment solution developed in collaboration with Meizu, demonstrating its potential through the Meizu StarV Snap smart glasses in Hong Kong. The technology enables users to make payments by scanning QR codes or using voice commands, offering a hands-free alternative to smartphones or smartwatches. Designed for global eWallets, the smart glasses integrate payment features directly into wearable devices, marking a shift in how consumers may conduct transactions in everyday settings. Jiangming Yang, Chief Innovation Officer of Ant International, said, “We are grateful to work with industry leaders like Meizu to pioneer smart glasses-embedded payment solutions. By unlocking payment capabilities, smart glasses will rapidly transform into the next-gen personal device like the mobile phone.”

This innovation carries important implications for fintech, retail, and wearable tech. Smart glasses with built-in payment capabilities add a new layer to wearable commerce, blending convenience, speed, and intuitive user interaction. Features like voice-activated payments and QR scanning streamline the checkout experience, making transactions faster and more secure. As retailers adopt these technologies, they’re likely to offer more flexible payment options and reduce friction at the point of sale. The integration of financial tools into everyday accessories is poised to influence both how consumers manage their money and how quickly they embrace emerging technologies.
