Acrisure has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Heartland Payroll Solutions, the payroll and Human Capital Management business of Global Payments, for $1.1 billion. The acquisition, expected to close in the second half of 2025 pending regulatory approval, will expand Acrisure’s capabilities in payroll and back-office solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. Once finalized, Heartland Payroll will be rebranded and integrated into Acrisure’s growing portfolio of financial services. The business currently serves over 50,000 clients nationwide and will continue to operate under its existing leadership, with Vince Lombardo appointed as CEO.
This acquisition aligns with Acrisure’s strategy to broaden its offerings and build a more comprehensive fintech platform. The company already provides services across insurance, reinsurance, cybersecurity, real estate, and compliance. The purchase follows Acrisure’s recent $2.1 billion capital raise, which brought its valuation to $32 billion. Greg Williams, Acrisure’s CEO, emphasized the importance of offering technology-driven solutions to meet business needs. He added, “We prioritize the needs of our clients and increasingly, that’s a tech-oriented solution that streamlines their back-office operations in important verticals like payroll, compliance and billing.” Lombardo, who brings two decades of experience in payroll and financial services, views the acquisition as a step toward faster growth and deeper market reach. The deal strengthens Acrisure’s position as a key provider of essential business services across multiple sectors.
