Perplexity has partnered with PayPal to introduce instant checkout capabilities on its Perplexity Pro platform. Beginning this summer in the United States, users will be able to make purchases directly within Perplexity’s chat interface using PayPal or Venmo. The integration allows users to find products, book travel, and buy tickets with a single interaction. All aspects of the transaction, including payment, shipping, tracking, and invoicing, will be handled through PayPal’s secure systems, utilizing features such as account linking, tokenized wallets, and passkey-based checkouts that simplify authentication.
This collaboration reflects a shared focus on trust and ease of use in digital commerce. By combining Perplexity’s conversational engine with PayPal’s transaction infrastructure, the partnership opens new ways for users to act on information instantly. Perplexity offers real-time, cited answers by blending live web data with AI models, answering over 150 million queries weekly. Aravind Srinivas, Cofounder and CEO of Perplexity, highlighted, "Perplexity wants to have accurate, trustworthy answers wherever people are making decisions. PayPal is a natural partner because we share a vision for how important trust is in the age of AI." Key features of the partnership include seamless in-chat purchasing through PayPal integration, extending Perplexity’s shopping tools to over 430 million users in nearly 200 markets, with secure transactions backed by PayPal’s fraud protection systems.
